Lab Circuits Incorporates New CIMS GALAXY 25 AOI SYSTEM for Automatic Optical PCB Inspection

Lab Circuits takes a step forward in its PCB quality control capabilities with the acquisition of its second GALAXY 25 AOI SYSTEM, developed by CIMS.

This state-of-the-art equipment is designed to support volume manufacturing of high-density (HDI) and multilayer PCBs, offering scanning capabilities with a resolution of up to 25 micrometers (µm) in lines and spaces.

Thanks to Microlight™ Gen II optical technology, the GALAXY 25 AOI SYSTEM provides optimal illumination for detecting defects with exceptional accuracy, even in the most complex designs and special materials.

It also incorporates a new adaptive scanning LED system, specifically designed to improve inspection on low-contrast materials, ensuring reliable detection in demanding visual conditions.

Equipped with the advanced Spark™ 3.0 detection engine, this system combines superior image capture with customizable algorithms to maximize defect detection while minimizing false positives, thus optimizing inspection efficiency and reliability.

Its features include:

• 2D dimensional measurement

• Laser hole inspection

• Smooth and quiet motion using linear motors

• Compact and robust mechanical platform

• High-performance image processing firmware

• Quick and intuitive setup for new jobs

• Compatibility with AMHS front-end automation systems and robots

With this strategic investment, Lab Circuits reaffirms its commitment to technological innovation and quality in its production processes, strengthening its ability to deliver electronic products with high standards of precision and reliability to its customers.

“Having the GALAXY 25 AOI SYSTEM represents a significant improvement in the early detection of potential defects, which translates into reduced review times and greater quality assurance for our PCBs,” said Xavier Angel, Technical Director of Lab Circuits.

This addition positions Lab Circuits at the forefront of the industry, consolidating its leadership in high-tech PCB manufacturing.
